What is a Dialup Accelerator?

If you surf the Internet using a dial-up connection, you know how slow web pages can load. Well, now you can surf the web up to 5 times faster with Propel's HyperSpeed Dialup, provided here at no additional charge to all MetaNet dialup customers!

Dialup acceleration is the way to go if you want faster internet without the expense of a DSL line. Please note: MetaNet customers currently using the older Proxyconn Accelerator should uninstall it and download the Propel Hyperspeed Accelerator below at your earliest convenience.

How Does It Work?

Propel's HyperSpeed Dialup is designed to provide maximum acceleration for the Web sites you visit regularly. So, the more you surf, the faster your favorite pages will load! A small piece of software, the HyperSpeed Client, installs on your computer and talks to our network of HyperSpeed Servers.

Specifically, HyperSpeed Dialup speeds up the delivery of Web pages four ways:

Compression. HyperSpeed Dialup delivers text and graphics more efficiently, using a proprietary compression technology that significantly reduces the size of Web pages and page elements sent to your browser.
Caching. HyperSpeed Dialup improves upon your browser's caching ability. HyperSpeed Dialup intelligently retains and reuses Web pages and page elements that have previously been sent to your PC. That's why the longer HyperSpeed Dialup is in use on your PC, the faster your Web pages will load.
Persistent Connections. HyperSpeed Dialup uses proprietary techniques to carefully manage and optimize the communication between your modem and our network of servers through a persistent connection. This eliminates the time wasted re-establishing and closing TCP/IP connections.
Optional Content Filtering. HyperSpeed Dialup lets you block unsolicited content, such as pop-up ads and in page ads, which contribute to long wait times.

How Do I Get It?

Propel's HyperSpeed Dialup is available at no charge to all MetaNet dialup customers. If you are not a MetaNet customer, sign up today either by visiting our signup page or calling us at (877)638-7871. Cost is just $16.95/month with discounts offered for longer term options.

If you already have MetaNet dialup service, download the Propel HyperSpeed Dialup software by clicking the appropriate link below:

For Windows (98,XP,ME,2000,2003):

For MacIntosh (OS X 10.2 or above):

Install the product on your PC (it supports Windows Vista, XP, ME, 98, 2000, 2003 and Macintosh OS X 10.2 and later - sorry, but it won't work on Windows 95). If you have the older ProxyConn accelerator software, be sure to uninstall that first and reboot. MacIntosh users may find this document helpful for viewing the various screens: Mac_Screens.PDF.

Once the product is successfully installed, contact us to activate it by calling (877) 638-7871 or emailing us at billing@metanetis.com. (Customers upgrading from the Proxyconn Accelerator do not need to contact us - it will already be activated here). Prior to activation, HyperSpeed Dialup will not speed up your browsing, but it will still allow you to browse the Internet with your normal dialup connection. The pop-up blocker will work immediately after you install it even before activation. If HyperSpeed Dialup prompts you for a username and password prior to activation, just click Cancel. Once we activate it, you will enter your dialup username (do not include @metanetis.com - just your username!) and password in the software and you can start surfing at accelerated speeds!
